Are you talking about that circular pit located east of the Volcano? If so, I have been there. It is a shallow man made container that looks like it was a water tank for animals or for a residence that used to be downhill from there. There is an old car in the bushes below there too.
Some old maps call the area Lime Kiln Canyon. I think they used to process lime there, long before Dacron was invented.
