Oro Vista Ave Bailout (Big-T) Bush Hazard

Post by JD »

The bushes in the Oro Vista Ave bailout are now tall enough to interfere with landing as I learned yesterday. Next trip to Sylmar, I plan to bring loppers, saw and pick to do as much clearing as I can before flying. If anyone else gets to it first please post here. Meanwhile, please be warned that the bushes are high enough to reduce the useful size of this bailout.

The attached graphics show the offending growth plus yesterday's light-wind, non-drag chute landing path for reference. Meanwhile, it may be safer to use a drag chute to minimize ground skim.

Just a heads up on the wash near Oro Vista Pvt Ave but the previous time I landed there on Oct 15, I may have flown over the missing body of Julia Moniz.

It sounds like the locals may be out there trying to clean the area up. I guess anyone from the club could chip in. I don't know who if anyone is coordinating. Perhaps as a result of the attention we may not get as many abandoned shopping carts and other hazards on the runway in the near future.

Normally, OP would be chiming in on some macabre and offbeat topic like this but I fear that since OP is MIA he may be the next victim of Oro Vista Pvt. :o  :?: :?:
