There'll be an exam this Saturday at 8:00 am. It's at the Northridge Hospital in the 5th floor Penthouse Auditorium. The test only takes 20 minutes, so you can definitely go flying afterward.
All you need to bring is $4 (in $1 bills), and 2 forms of photo ID (although they only asked me for a driver's license).
The test is 'no sweat' if you read through all of the powerpoint slides on this website (and it's free):

You're guaranteed to pass if you read those powerpoint slides. There's 10 of them and they take about 15 minutes a piece. Very simple reading, large font.

and don't forget to mention the practice tests available for FREE online at www.QRZ.com. They are very helpful.
