Where I work, our company manufactures marine hardware, i.e. parts and accessories for boats like ski boats and fishing boats etc. Mostly simple mechanical parts made in metals and plastics. We are always hiring and right now we are looking for:
1) Welders: Mostly TIG on stainless steel. Pay varies with ability to produce. We train newbies.
2) Machinists: Pay varies with ability. from trainees to CNC-CAD/CAM programmers. We use DesignCAD, XCAD, OneCNC. These are easy to learn. We don't use any others.
3) Engineers: We don't care about dem dare college degrees. Can you invent and make stuff? None of our R&D people have degrees, but if you do; we need you too. We are constantly developing new products. Mostly very simple mechanical devices as well as structural and cosmetic items for boats. We also design and build the fixtures and machines to manufacture the products. Programming and engineering work may be available on a independent contractor basis from your home.
4) R&D Technicians: For us that's anybody who can fix thier own car, use machine tools and has some mechanical aptitude.
5) Maintenance personnel: Repair, maintain and build machinery.
6) Buffers: Hand buff metal parts. Hard dirty work, but an honest living. Are you hard, dirty and honest?
7) Various manufacturing labor jobs.
We are looking for people who are experienced or want to learn these jobs. Most of our employees learned their skills working there. Pay varies by ability. All these jobs have training positions that start at $8 and up. Experience in some of the jobs can pay $10-$15 or higher for the experienced machinist/programmer, or "engineer".
All the usually benefits. Most important requirement is a desire to get things done and learn. Even better: get things done and teach. Flat management structure. No political B.S. Very casual environment. Even the CEO (me) wears the same jeans and t-shirts to work as I do to hangglide. Se habla espanol, but English helps. We don't have the highest pay available, and we don't make Mars landers, but if that environment is not for you, we like to give smart motivated people a chance to learn and grow. I started as a laborer there, and was eventually developing patented products and now after 1500% growth I'm looking to hire others who want to do the same.
All Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are paid days off for H1, H2 & H3s. I'll include H4s if Joe signs me off. Any Joe will do. Ok, "the flying days off" is not quite true, but the rest is.
Location: Gardena, CA, Currently we have about 150 employees.
