I watched the entire segment prior to leaving for work. In the segment leading up to it Matt Lauer said something about watching Al do "stupid human tricks". Not what I would call great publicity.

But hey it was way cool to see Al portray it in a VERY positive light

I thought Al looked pretty good next to Matt's near-drowning, trying to get up on water skis. Al never showed any fear, either, as far as I could see.
Maybe there's hope for us, afterall.

i believe that in the video it's kite boarding, not water skiing.
(I used to kiteboard.)
