I just heard on the news that 10 feet of snow is expected in the mountains from this western storm. A few years ago we got enough rain in a short period of time that the Pacoima Dam was opened up and the massive flow washed away our landing zone like a hot knife through butter. Do we have a rapid deployment team? If we did would it matter?
Even rocks and junk cars filled with boulders stacked at the beginning of the runway would just be washed away. I think I remember Hungary Joe telling me the guy that operates the dam lives a few miles away. Maybe if they open the dam now part way now it would avoid a huge rush needed later. Oh wait thats our drinking water.
