SIBL ball drop Saturday, Mar 1st 2007 - Weather permitting

This Saturday, March 1st at 11 am (about) I will be dropping the opening day baseball for SIBL from a Falcon 195. The ball will be on a custom-made parachute. We have done this for many years. Our neighbors at the ball fields really like it. Come watch, maybe I'll mess up!

We don't have too much control over the timing. They tell us when, so sometime between 10:45 and 11:30 or so would be my guess. After the ball drop, I land the Falcon 195 in one of the ball diamonds. All in all an interesting time. But short.

This is all, of course, weather permitting. Given that I'll be flying near a bunch of folks and that I'll be landing inside the ball diamond in full view of several dignitaries and lots of kids, we are pretty picky about the weather.

Good Luck George! You've always done well and it's a BIG community outreach for SHGA. Maybe one of the kids will actually catch the ball this year

If Club members are available to assist, they can contact Freddy Wagner and/or Joe Greblo. I know the pilot (George) needs to have ground support to help with crowd control and LZ/Launch coordination.

Well, we tried. Launched was still socked in when I left the lZ at 2:00 pm. And cloudbase was getting lower, not higher. I was on top and ready at 11:00, but could not even see past the bushes on launch.
