Now that several of you have CompeGPS a difficult subject to tackle is one of maps and terrain. Maps in CompeGPS can give you some problem and sometimes getting the correct terrain download is difficult to figure out.
No worries, just download this file and uncompress the files into the Maps folder for CompeGPS (C:\Program Files\CompeGPS\maps by default). These files handle the terrain (for 3D) and contain the Google earth overlay. When choosing maps select the file WorlgoogleMaps_orto.wgom and the overlay should start rendering. Earlier versions of CompeGPS can give you problems so make sure you're using the latest version 6.6 as of this posting.
If your flight is anywhere from Santa Barbara to Crestline the terrain data (N34W118.hgt & N34W119.hgt) will auto load when 3D is selected.
