Spring Air Festival

Post by Mike M »

Hi Folks:

In a weak moment I volunteered to organize this Spring's air festival.

It was either the scotch or Katherine's winning smile ....

Actually, I am very happy to step up and try to make this event a success. I will be calling on those who have worked on this in the past for their knowledge and suggestions as well as anyone who feels they can contribute.

I will work out this weekend a more or less detailed task list so any volunteers will know what they are getting into.

The current scheduled date (s) are May 4 (Saturday) with May 5 as the Rain/Wind backup day. If the weekend is rained/blown out then the backup weekend is, at this time, the weekend of May 17/18.

Since the Dahlstein cup was postponed last year it is planned to have a big trophy contest during this event as well as the usual Sport class competition. Details to follow as I determine who is available to help.

The guts are flying, food, camaraderie and drink. I am also open to suggestions and help with any other activities that would be deemed entertaining (i.e. Camp 9 water drop or ?).

Thanks in advance to all who can help make this happen.

Regards,

Mike Moacanin

Kudos to you, Mike!

The Spring Air is a lot of fun and yes, Katherine's winning smile is persuasive :D

If it would be helpful, please feel free to call me for event history.

Missing you all,

Lynn

Spring Air Festival - Food

Post by Don »

I'll try to get Noreen to make a big pot of her Turkey Chili - it won second or third place. Some cheese, maybe onions, paper bowls, and spoons will come with it.

I can bring some long tables if you like. I'll bring some disposable table covers this time to hide the tables' age. Just let me know how many tables you think you'll need.

Thanks! The tables will be appreciated.

The Turkey Chili will be great also ! I'll let Katherine Yardley know that is a possibility.

I'll be more responsive after this weekend now that I've finished my reviews at work. Apologies for the late replies here.

Thansk again,

Mike

Clarification

Post by Chip »

Just a point that Saturday is May 3rd not the 4th.

Is Saturday the day we're going for? I think it would be good to have Saturday the main day with a backup on Sunday the 4th.

I'm going to kinda be the meet director for the Dahlsten Cup but will need volunteers for the launch and landing portions of the event. We may have a sock / bomb drop in the wash (away from everything and everybody). Minimum altitudes will apply.

Looked at the wrong month in my Calendar. Absolutely correct. Saturday is May 3. The scheduled date is therefore May 3 on Saturday.

Chip, will you be able to put up a web page blank?

Thanks,

Mike

Currently working on it

I have a competitions page that sort of outlines the details of the Dahlsten Cup and the format. It's not finshed just yet. Here's a early look

It would help to have some content for the info you want on the Spring Air. I'll likely have time on Sunday to complete the page if I get some content to fill it.

Chip:

I'm putting together a flyer based on last year's flyer tomorrow morning.
Your page looks great, I just want to add some schedule information, map (or link to same) for the benefit of the Elsinore, Crestline, Santa Barbara pilots, and a couple of other misc items.

I know a lot of this can be found in various places on the website, I just want to put it all in one place in summary format. So for this, I would consider deleting the history and other verbage and go straight to format, times for pilot meetings, launch windows etc.

Then I want to include times for food, respect for the neighbors stuff (drive slow) etc.

Regards and thanks,

Mike

Need volunteers for the Spring Air Festival Task Committee

Post by Mike M »

I have asked Jeff to let me know what resources he needs.

This is a general announcement that we will seek pilots with competition experience plus a scribe to form the task committee.

Mike
