New storage tubes
Moderator: Chip
Yes Robert you can move your glider in anytime. So far 3 tubes have locks attached (me, Seabass, Glenn). You can put your glider in and pay Jay after the final price is decided next week. I am pretty sure the price will not exceed $260 per year and am hoping it will be less. We need to wait for the vote from next weeks board meeting.
The inside doors can be made completely weather proof by gluing a piece of foam to the inside of the door that pushes firmly against the tube. Seabass has done it to his and I can assist anyone else do if they want it done to theirs.
For those who want to move in, do it any time but please let Jay and me know. Jay needs to keep track for the money purposes and I need to know how soon the next box needs to be made ready.

cool doug just submit a proposal to the board. the cat stuff did happen like you said. more than one glider sprayed. i got the cat out a couple of times but somehow it got back in. never did figgure out how. i also remember your suggestion about the sonic blaster. i was speaking toung in cheek about the higggs-boson emmiter backpack. jim's invention not yours. i was so amused by it i chuckled all day. i was also amused by stephen saying that there was something that mystified him.
eat right, exercise, die anyway!
oh yes, the prices will probably be set at the board meeting this thursday. there may be a major overhaul of the pricing with a discount for the upper rows. that was something else doug suggested (among others). any way there seems to be a lot of intrest in the topic. come to the board meeting an make your voice heard. no knives or guns please!

I just want to say that I personally do not support the use peyote when commenting on this forum, unless that's required to follow the discussion. Is that the secret, or is it just me?
BTW, storage doors - done.
Jay, let us know the combination for the outer door when you get a lock on it.
Also, BTW, for anyone interested, those no-look, open in the dark, programmable combination locks that some of us are using are available at Home Depot for about $7. I would like someone to sacrifice one to Thor - the god of thunder, by beating one with a hammer until it gives up, just to see what they can take. I love mine too much to do that to any of them - every one is special, but one of them, somewhere has to die.

sorry, i should hot have posted anything about jay or the quality of his work. seriously, my bad. as i honestly don't care about the gazebo, the storage containers, the politics, the public's perception of us, or anything, really, except flying, i should keep OUT of it. for one thing, i haven't been part of this club long enough to really have the kind of stake in it that long-time members do, and for another, i'd be fine with a dirt lot. all i care about is airtime and the people i experience it with. (it's all dull and insipid once you land, anyway...) i know there are a LOT of people who feel very passionately about the politics of the "club." out of respect for you ALL, i will refrain from any further commentary on this site unless it has DIRECTLY to do with flying...

Janyce,
There is no problem with anything you posted. You know that people will argue about anything. You refraining from commenting will not make any difference about that, so don't worry about it. The politics and misunderstandings (which is what almost all of the disagreements are from) is just part of the flavor of having a group of people do anything as a group. We have far too few women in the club, and I think we need your input more than anyone's. Otherwise we would just sit around scratching ourselves and flinging poo at each other like filthy animals. You may not be able to fix that, but it's certainly not your fault.
And to me you ARE a long-time member who's opinion I'd like to hear on everything your interested in. Besides, we can't fly every day, so we need some crap to fill up that downtime. Bring some crap, and fling it. It's all good.

There shouldn't be any problems in giving an opinion. It is the right of every person, man or woman, new member or old. Conducting a research on the topic you are about to comment will make the communication more meaningful and beneficial to the club. This in turns will stop the “poo flinging rhetoric from being passed throughout our club. This is what needs to be fixed, fact from fiction. We are animals that can think and should be able to reason.
Concerning our club, much of the information people believe is rarely questioned, especially when information has come from what they believe to be a reliable source.
In fact, this has affected us financially as well as how we move forward.

I've got the answer to the tube problem. So let me throw my idea out there. It came from a fever dream I had while suffering from a subliminal hematoma at Mt. Sinai.
We will allocate our tube space by focusing on SEO, keyword rich, trend-tracking via the mobile-to-moblie tablet based client-side using a cloud sourced integration field.
We could fund it with venture capitol money from a firm in Qatar, just to get it off the ground.
This could save the club Billions per year.

Ok, I'll be there. At great personal expense I have made charts, graphs and prepared a lecture on the subject. I'll try to squeeze it down to less than 90 minutes. I know everyone's time is valuable.
There is a small type-o in my last message. It should read "Brazilians" and not "Billions." My plan contains provisions to limit more than one Brazilian national from renting a tube at a time; thus saving the club Brazilians per year.

Yes I have reset them before. It is that easy. They say that the combination can be any infinite number of moves. I tested that by making it 10 pushes in a couple different directions. It still worked. I guess it uses wheels that end up on a particular tooth, and when you repeat that number of moves you end up on that tooth. This would mean that there may be actually more than one combination that will open it, but the odds of landing on that by accident are very slim.
I'm gonna kill one today to see how tough it is, and then I'll see how the little hamster inside remembers the combo.
The lock video you are referring to was in an email, so here's the link for anybody else interested in a lock you can open in the dark. If like me, you keep your harem in the cellar, they can really improve your personal relationships.

Melting point of Nylon is around 400. But the Tg (glass transition temp) is much lower.
Like nearly all gym combo locks, a short prybar or a hammer will also defeat it pretty quick. Portable oxy torches will make quick work of pretty think steel, the door would be easy.

However I don't think that is the purpose of that lock is to defeat that type of attack.

I haven't seen any variations of that lock, like a smaller luggage version, or a more durable gate lock. It's been out at least 2 years. I haven't found any hacks other than drilling it open, but you can set it to zero or no combination.
I may get one to reduce my storage unit to truck transfer time from 30 down to 21 seconds.

An Oxy torch will not cut stainless. The hinges and lock tabs are stainless, and I ran out of steel, so 2 out of the 8 doors are actually stainless steel. I don't remember which ones, but there is a very simple way to tell if it is, if you know one metallurgical fact of austenitic stainless steels.
