Drum and Bass (DnB) is an energetic, high-speed style of electronic dance music built around two main ingredients: frantic, fast-paced drum beats and deep, heavy basslines that you can literally feel in your chest. Sprinting at a racing 170 to 175 beats per minute, it is nearly twice as fast as standard pop music and sounds like the high-octane soundtrack to a racing video game or an action movie car chase. At events like LA’s Respect DnB, the genre spans from smooth, soulful melodies with beautiful vocals (Liquid) to gritty, aggressive, futuristic sounds (Neurofunk) designed to keep a club crowd jumping all night.

The drum and bass genre has evolved from a protective underground subculture into the public eye, creating confusing name conflicts that are taking up all my time when I should just be out hang gliding.
