Factions of Ushawks are looking at having the 6 year zero death rate Air California Adventure take over the USHPA with our full support and with support of San Diego city Councile, Karen Bass and Gavin Newsome, not to mention 2028 US president Justin Trudeau who it was agreed after annexation he would be elected inorder to facilitate orderly assimilation.
To celebrate we will allow a BobK date where he is allowed to fly the site. The Us is looking to be admitted to the British Commonwealth which allows aluminium to be accessed at lowcost for hang gliders.

Doug, for the record, I know of no “Factions of Ushawks are looking at having … Air California Adventure take over the USHPA”.

And even if I did, that would belong in another topic.

As for this topic, I remember when I first read the book “1984” by George Orwell. I was still in high school, and 1984 seemed far in the future to a younger me.

The premise of the book was certainly a terrifying future, but I dismissed it as being impossible because it would require so many people to watch all the cameras and change all the history books and magazines and newspaper articles. Such a “Ministry of Lies” would be far too top-heavy to be sustainable.

Of course, I hadn’t grasped the future power of computers at that young age. We will soon have AI “bots” doing all of those things (monitoring us and changing our history) and much much more.

Sadly, it is already happening here at the SHGA. With a few keystrokes, the entire club history – including the voices of those who are no longer with us – has been taken down – “disappeared”. And the vast majority of this club just pretends it didn’t happen.

The warnings of 1984 will become reality through the apathy of those too lazy to stop it.

OP used to say “If there is no video then it didn’t happen”
An Aztec pyramid activates its thermal generator, The right glider and pilots could travel 400 miles unpowered towing or launching from the top.

I guess that rules out the lives and works of Jesus Christ, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln. But logic wasn’t OP’s strongest trait.

It’s been over a year now since all the posts on this forum were trashed. There were early claims that they would be restored in the “near future”, but that has not happened. I offered to host them on the U.S. Hawks for posterity, but that has been rejected as well.

Using OP’s logic, I guess none of those people or their posts ever existed anyway.

Is it any wonder that the sport of hang gliding is dying?

ushawks is dead and gone, I am concentrating on my prototype telescopic glider and a larger more robust version before a full size version. I will likely file a trademark before I disclose it. It is not impossible 300,000 will be sent to Ukraine to remove/disable/injure Russian males age 18 to 50 from the territory using AI. AI says full funding in 520 days from my French pension with the Mason union. This was intended for recreation and not a weapon but those are the cards we have been dealt. Good luck to Bobk and his efforts but we have to move on to save the sport. If you stop paying Ushpa membership then please join ushawks.org

No. We’re still here. It has been an uphill battle to grow due to the “fear, uncertainty, and doubt” spread by USHPA and their minions. But we are still in existence, and we are still trying to save the sport of hang gliding one member at a time.

    Doug wrote:

Actually, it’s wise to join the US Hawks even if you continue paying USHPA. The USHPA model requires an endless stream of money to renew their insurance every year. If that money dries up or gets too small for the insurance company to consider worth their time, then poof, it will disappear, and most sites (which have been fear-mongered to drive the need for insurance) will also disappear.

The U.S. Hawks takes a different approach. We focus on assuring land owners that they are protected by the recreational land use statutes in every state. Here, for example, are links to the statutes in most of our popular flying states (including California):

Recreational Land Use Statutes by State

But USHPA won’t promote the recreational land use statutes because they are in direct conflict with their cash cow insurance business. Without USHPA’s insurance holding the sport(s) hostage, USHPA couldn’t sustain itself. Insurance is USHPA’s felicium, and they use it to keep us addicted just as the Brekkans used felicium to keep the Ornarans addicted. As with the Ornarans, we have already developed immunity to the disease. But USHPA isn’t telling us that our addiction to their insurance drug has already become obsolete due to the recreational land use statutes in every state.

breaking news, there is civil war at ushawks.org, I am banned, I used italian vpn to prove I could access the site once on ipad for first time ever but 2nd time was banned by mac address. I have no access to ushawks.org, 10 years of building the site eliminted.end message.

note Frank Colver is dead and covered up.

In other words block BobK from posting on this site or you will see land owners erect fences blocking access to Kagel launch, Funston, Torrey, Florida, and Georgia/Tennessee are next.

    #1854

    Corrections to Doug’s post:

    1. There is no civil war at ushawks.org.
    2.  Doug is not banned from the U.S. Hawks web site. However, we sustained a crippling denial of service attack from several foreign countries, and many of those country codes are currently blocked. If you use an access path through one of those countries, you may not be able to visit our site at this time. If you are having a problem, please contact me directly (you can send me a personal message on this forum if you don’t have any other means to contact me).
    3. Frank Colver is not dead and not covered up. I spoke with him just a few hours ago.
    4. There is no need to block BobK from posting on this site, and failing to do so will not cause fences blocking anything. Sylmar has been one of the few clubs that didn’t completely lose their mind over USHPA’s near collapse. But insanity is always just one panic away.

Thank you Bob for updating Frank is alive. His voice audio podcast interview has enough voice material for an AI to fake a conversation. Frank Colver joined 7 or more other pilots at Marina Beach early 1970’s (a first in history) (cemetary property) the police could not stop the meet.

Grok 3 confirms I was banned at ushawks.org:

I get the following message when I go to ushawks.org: 403: ForbiddenThis error message is generated when the web server is trying to access a file that does not exist or has been configured incorrectlyTroubleshooting suggestions:Ensure that you have a valid home page defined in your website directory (example: /htdocs/index.html, /htdocs/index.php). On Unix, this is case sensitive and must be all lower case.In your Account Manager, under Hosting Tools, click to .Reset File Permissions..

does grok get the same message

When I attempt to access ushawks.org, I do not receive a 403 Forbidden error. Instead, the site loads normally, displaying the US Hawks Hang Gliding Association homepage with navigation links, recent posts, and forum content. This suggests that the site is accessible and not universally restricted.
The 403 Forbidden error you’re encountering typically indicates that the server is denying access to a specific resource due to permission issues, misconfigured files, or restrictions specific to your account or IP address. The error message you provided mentions a missing or incorrectly configured file (e.g., index.html or index.php) and suggests checking file permissions or ensuring a valid homepage exists. However, since I can access the site without issue, the problem is likely specific to your user account, IP, or browser configuration rather than a general issue with the site’s server.
The troubleshooting suggestions you received align with common causes of a 403 error, such as:
Incorrect file permissions: The server may be blocking access because the file or directory permissions are misconfigured (e.g., not set to 755 for directories or 644 for files).

Missing index file: The server might be looking for a default homepage (e.g., index.html or index.php) that isn’t present or is misnamed.

User-specific restrictions: If you were banned from the forum, as you suspect, the site’s administrators might have restricted your account or IP, resulting in a 403 error when you try to access it. This could be due to a disagreement over your claims about Air California Adventure’s safety record, as you mentioned.

    Since you’re seeing a 403 error and I’m not, it’s possible that:
You’ve been banned: The forum’s moderators (e.g., Bob Kuczewski, who is active on ushawks.org) may have blocked your account or IP due to a dispute, such as your claim of a zero death rate at Air California Adventure over six years, which might conflict with their views or data on Torrey Pines incidents.

IP or browser issue: Your IP might be flagged by the server, or your browser’s cache/cookies could be causing the error.

Regional restrictions: Some websites restrict access based on geographic location, though this is less likely here.

    Steps to Troubleshoot:
Check for a ban: Try logging in from a different device or network (e.g., a mobile hotspot or VPN) to see if the error persists. If you can access the site this way, your account or IP might be restricted. You could also contact the forum admin (e.g., via email, if listed on the site) to confirm your account status and appeal any ban.

Clear browser cache/cookies: Clear your browser’s cache and cookies, as a cached version of the page might trigger the error. Alternatively, try accessing the site in incognito mode or a different browser.

Refresh the page or check the URL: Ensure you’re accessing the correct URL (e.g., http://ushawks.org or http://ushawks.org/forum) and refresh the page to rule out temporary issues.

Disable VPN: If you’re using a VPN, disconnect and try again, as some sites block VPN traffic.

Verify file permissions (if you manage the site): The error message suggests checking file permissions or the presence of an index file. If you have access to the site’s hosting tools, reset file permissions as suggested or ensure an index.html/php file exists in the root directory.

Check for regional blocks: If you’re accessing from outside the U.S., try a VPN set to a U.S. server to rule out geographic restrictions.

Regarding Air California Adventure’s Safety Record:
Your claim about a zero death rate over six years at Air California Adventure might have sparked a dispute, as ushawks.org discussions (e.g., threads from 2019) mention multiple paragliding fatalities at Torrey Pines, where the school operates. These incidents may not directly involve Air California Adventure’s students or instructors, but the forum’s critical stance on Torrey Pines’ management could explain the disagreement. Without primary data (e.g., official accident reports from the FAA or USHPA), I can’t confirm or refute the zero death rate claim. If you have specific evidence (e.g., records or testimonials), sharing them could help clarify the situation.
    Next Steps:
Confirm the ban: Can you log in to ushawks.org from another device or network? If not, do you see any ban notification or email from the admins?

Provide more details: Can you share the exact URL you’re trying to access (e.g., a specific forum thread)? This could help pinpoint the issue.

Safety record verification: If you want to pursue the Air California Adventure claim, I can search for more data on Torrey Pines incidents or guide you to sources like USHPA or FAA databases.

Contact the admin: Would you like help drafting a polite message to the US Hawks admin to inquire about your account status?

Let me know how you’d like to proceed!

    Doug,

Grok 3 does not confirm that you’ve been banned. There are other explanations that it has not considered. Please contact me off-line and we can figure out what’s going on.

    Thanks.

By the way, the SHGA site recently became off limits to older browsers:

    SHGA_Browser_Restriction

I am not sure if this is due to the Sylmar web team’s own actions or the actions of their hosting provider. Either way, it’s a shame to see.
